ABC Fire Extinguisher Inc. is seeking a motivated individual to join our team in the fire sprinkler field. Prior experience with fire sprinkler systems is required, but ABC will provide additional training to ensure your success in the role.

Position Overview:

The Fire Sprinkler Technician is responsible for providing on-site service to our customers in the greater Pittsburgh area, focusing on water-based fire protection systems and backflow preventer devices. This role involves completing assigned routes that include servicing, maintaining, testing, and repairing these systems for our established customer base.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

This list outlines the primary responsibilities for the position, but it is not exhaustive. ABC Fire reserves the right to modify or assign additional duties as needed. All personnel may be required to perform tasks outside of their usual responsibilities when necessary.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site environment
  • Perform inspections and complete inspection forms, proposing remedies for any deficiencies discovered
  • Thread and fabricate pipes as needed for fire sprinkler installations
  • Work in compliance with relevant codes such as NFPA 13, NFPA 25, and local plumbing codes
  • Utilize mechanical aptitude and hand/power tools to perform tasks effectively
  • Stay current with industry certifications and continuing education
  • Be available for emergency service calls, including after-hours or weekends as required

Additional Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years experience working with fire sprinkler systems
  • Relevant certifications, including ICC, NICET, NFSA, and NFPA
  • Backflow Testing Certification
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent (relevant trade school education is a plus)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record  
  • Ability to pass a drug screening and background check

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds
  • Professional jobsite etiquette while working at customer facilities
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights using lifts or scaffolding
  • Positive attitude and a willingness to learn and grow in the role
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) provided by the employer, except for safety shoes
