Position Overview:

The Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for providing on-site service to customers, completing assigned routes in a fully equipped company vehicle. This role involves inspecting, testing, repairing, and maintaining fire alarm systems for our established customer base. The technician will also assess compliance with fire safety codes and recommend corrective actions when needed. Additionally, this position may involve assisting with fire alarm installation projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

All personnel may be required to perform tasks outside of their usual responsibilities when needed.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site
  • Collaborate with the lead technician to review new project details
  • Comply with fire safety codes and regulations, including NFPA 72, NFPA 17, and NEC
  • Utilize mechanical aptitude and hand/power tools to perform tasks efficiently
  • Pull wire in areas such as drop ceilings, walls, and through conduit
  • Bend, cut, and install conduit according to NEC code
  • Obtain and maintain certifications relevant to the role

Additional Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with fire alarm systems
  • Basic understanding of electrical principles and fire alarm wiring
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or evenings as needed
  • Certifications such as NICET, OSHA, BICSI, or an Electrician License are preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent (trade school education is a plus)
  • Basic knowledge of reading blueprints and wiring schematics
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a drug screening and background check

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds
  • Comfortable working in various jobsite settings, including customer facilities
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights using lifts or scaffolding
  • Positive attitude and a strong desire to learn and grow in the role
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided by the employer, except for safety shoes
